The church of Christ is “non-denominational” in the truest sense of the term. In fact, we were nondenominational before it was cool to be nondenominational. Denominationalism condones, and even celebrates, division. That is not Christ’s goal for His church (1 Corinthians 3). Christ has but ONE body (Ephesians 4:4) and it is to be unified (Ephesians 4:3). If we are to do away with the divisiveness of denominationalism, we must lay down our man-made traditions, titles, creeds, and be Christians only!
The objective of our congregation is to follow Jesus Christ in all that He teaches. Jesus tells us that we can be true disciples only when we live by the teaching of His Word (John 8:31-32). The Old Testament is a valuable source for such spiritual growth (Romans 15:4). We study the whole Bible in our classes and constantly use it in our preaching. However, we recognize and follow the New Testament as the covenant through which Christ directs His people on how to live today. The New Testament is our guide in all matters of faith and practice.
